Is it uncouth to turn a postal ring stamp into a traditional letterbox?

Thanks.

I've done it. I changed part of the stamp [cut off
the words that were there originally]. You could
always mention in your clues that the stamp was
originally part of the XXXX postal ring, so someone
who was in that ring wouldn't be disappointed to find
the same stamp.

It seems unlikely that the 10 or 12 folks from all
over the country who saw your postal would be the same
ones to actually get out in the wilds where you are
and find your box, but I guess you never know.

I've done it & I know a couple of other people who have also. I think it's a great idea--a lot of creativity goes into those PLB's.

I was hoping that would be the case (to be able to traditionalize a postal
stamp), I thought that it seemed kind of a shame to have to retire a stamp
after using it for such a short time with so few people.

Thanks!
